How to Setup a Virtual Lab

CCNA certification study does not require you to setup an expensive physical data rack at home. Cisco Packet Tracer is free and can be downloaded with registration at Cisco Network Academy.

Packet Tracer is a network simulator that provides a virtual lab environment for CCNA candidates. It is based on the same IOS software used with routers and switches and easy to use. You can learn how to configure routers, switches, wireless, firewalls and IoT.

Debug configuration scripts for errors or run troubleshooting commands and simulation mode to analyze how packets flow between source and destination. The network devices are based on Cisco IOS so you get a real simulation. In addition you can stop each device, add network modules and restart to add network interfaces.

Take the free course that Cisco Network Academy enrolls you in upon registration. That permits you to download Packet Tracer. The course is a little tedious and something you can finish at your leisure.

Start with Configuration Labs

CCNA Labs: Routing and Switching is a configuration workbook designed to provide lab skills necessary for the CCNA certification exam. Learn how to configure and verify network connectivity for all exam topics.

There is coverage of all topics required for ICND1 100-105 exam, ICND2 200-105 exam and CCNA 200-125 exam. Packet tracer ready labs start from basic global configuration to more complex routing and switching topics. Practice your troubleshooting skills with a CCNA break/fix lab that has various configuration errors for you to troubleshoot and resolve.
